Kentucky is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. From the Appalachian mountains to the rolling Bluegrass and many lakes and rivers, Kentucky has a lot to offer.
Admitted into the Union on June 1st, 1792, Kentucky is the 15th state. At 40411 sq. mi, Kentucky is the 37th largest state in America. It is 25th largest state in America in terms of population, with 4,041,769 citizens.
Kentucky is bordered by 7 states and three rivers. Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Illinois encompass the border. The Mississippi river borders the Western edge of the state, while the Ohio and Big Sandy rivers border the North and East sides. The Appalachian Mountain chain runs through Eastern Kentucky, with countless lakes and marshes encompassing the West. Vast open fields full of Kentucky Bluegrass and pure wooded wilderness are dominant in the central and Northern regions.

Kentucky is also home to the Licking River, one of only a few rivers in the world that flows North.
With 49 state parks and 1 national park, there is always a place to visit. Natural Bridge, Lake Cumberland, Mammoth Cave, and Cumberland Falls are just a few of the many attractions Kentucky has to offer.

Additionally, with several major cities in and around Kentucky, World class entertainment, professional sports, and amusement parks are only hours away from anywhere in the Bluegrass State. For more information, visit the Kentucky Tourism website.
